Senior Full Stack Engineer at Techstars | Remote Job, $150K Salary

About the role

Techstars is developing a central operating system to manage its accelerator programmes, support founders, connect its global network, and improve investment decisions.

The company is looking for a Senior Full Stack Engineer to take ownership of product features from initial design and data modelling through development, testing, and deployment.

You will work across the backend, frontend, data infrastructure, and AI-powered capabilities. These include intelligent search across the Techstars network, information retrieval from founder and portfolio data, and AI-assisted workflows that help users access relevant information.

Another key responsibility is consolidating legacy founder tools into the new operating system and retiring outdated systems without disrupting existing workflows.

This position offers the opportunity to join a small, autonomous team where engineers are expected to take responsibility for their work and contribute to technical decisions.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, and deploy full-stack features for Techstars OS.
• Develop frontend interfaces, APIs, and data ingestion systems.
• Build AI-powered features, including semantic search, federated search, information retrieval, and AI-assisted workflows.
• Work with founder and investment portfolio data to deliver relevant insights and information.
• Lead the migration and retirement of legacy tools, including Techstars Universe and its application management system.
• Build and maintain data pipelines that support real-time product features, search, and AI applications.
• Improve software reliability and development speed through testing, code reviews, and CI/CD practices.
• Integrate AI coding tools into development workflows while maintaining quality standards.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and help resolve technical challenges.
• Collaborate with team members across different time zones.
• Ensure legacy system transitions do not disrupt dependent services or business operations.

Requirements

• Strong proficiency in TypeScript and Python.
• Solid experience with React and the ability to build functional user interfaces independently.
• Experience with relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL, including data modelling, migrations, and query optimisation.
• Experience building end-to-end data pipelines covering ingestion, transformation, and delivery.
• Familiarity with event streaming or comparable data infrastructure.
• Experience deploying production applications powered by large language models (LLMs).
• Understanding of retrieval systems, embeddings, and evaluation methods for AI-powered features.
• Experience operating containerised services in cloud environments.
• Familiarity with infrastructure as code and cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or Amazon Web Services (AWS).
• Demonstrated ability to take product features from initial development to production.
• Experience modernising or retiring legacy systems safely.
• Strong written communication skills and the ability to work independently in a remote-first environment.

Additional skills that are advantageous:

• Event-driven architectures and Kafka-based data platforms.
• Evaluation and observability for LLM-powered applications.
• Model Context Protocol (MCP) or other tools that enable AI agents to interact safely with production systems.
• Identity and authentication systems such as Keycloak.
• Search platforms such as OpenSearch.
• Next.js and Material UI.
• Experience with financial data, venture capital, or startup portfolio management.
• Previous work at an accelerator, investment firm, or high-growth startup.
